Here we have Barry Adamson (of Magazine and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds fame) creating a soundtrack to a movie that never existed. Enjoy.

The Southern Death Cult - The Southern Death Cult

Beggars Banquet [1983]

Early positive punk for the goths...

I am currently in California visiting my family for the holidays. I was looking forward to escaping the cold and wet...
It followed me apparently.

Buddy Guy - I Left My Blues in San Francisco

Chess [1967]

This man is an enigma.

Whoa...

So I finally got around to looking the mediafire account and was absolutely floored at how many of the files have been restricted for copyright. I mean, we have all been watching this whole file sharing thing deteriorate recently but I am still committed to to sharing music with you guys. I guess it's time to switch to another host, though. I think I'm going to go with Zippyshare. We'll see how that goes. If any of you beautiful citizens of HIMK land have any other suggestions for a file host, please throw them my way.

Gallon Drunk - You, The Night... and the Music

Clawfist [1992]

This has been a pretty consistent listen for me as of late. I think you will enjoy it. Grimy swamp rock is good for those winter-time ailments anyway. And this is the good stuff... Like Scientists good... BIRTHDAY PARTY good...
You'll see...

The Flaming Stars - Songs From the Bar Room Floor

Vinyl Japan [1996]

I feel like someone should come to my house and strangle me because I waited until now to finally listen to this band. I mean, I knew I was stupid, but know I know the true extent.
Here for your listening pleasure is the greatest sleaze-rock I have heard in a LONG time.

Los Mockers - 1965-1967

Munster [2003]

I'M BACK!
I know you missed me. We won't get into the details of my technical difficulties but lets just we are back on track my friends.

As is often the case, this little update focuses on something that has been audibly harassing me quite frequently as of late. Some people have called these guys the Rolling Stones of Uruguay. I call them fun as fuck.
The vocalist sings in english and sounds like he has a French accent for no reason. Perfect.
These recordings span the years of 1965-1967.

Stan Getz & Bill Evans - Previously Unreleased Recordings

Verve [1973]

It's pretty much winter here now so it's time to bust out this stuff. Here we have two legends (and personal favorites) playing Jass together. These recording are from 1964.

Crown Roast - A Nose Has Many Jobs

Unclean [1994]

Nasty noise rock from Texas. Sounds like Dazzling Killmen and Born Against got thrown in a broken blender.

El Paso Hot Button / Attractractive and Popular - Jungle Fever / Live From Hell

El Paso Hot Button / Attractive And Popular split
Little Mafia [2008]

Let me first say that I no longer have this release in it's physical form and finding information obtaining to it has been a pain (to say the least). I suppose this makes sense since this release was apparently a major flop and neither of these guys were ever much more than obscure. That being said, this album is AMAZING. The reason it got so little attention is because most people's heads are filled with applesauce or something.
El Paso Hot Button is a one man extravaganza of cock-splosive proportions. As with Mickey Reece's previous releases, this offering is a grove-filled sonic experiment with a little bit of noise and a lot of NASTINESS.
Attractive and Popular bring us that sex-drenched mid-2000's electro-sass with the sass turned up to 11.

The electric eels - God Says Fuck You

Homestead [1991]

Presented here is the second of many posthumous formal releases showcasing the incredible talent the was The electric eels. Formed in Cleveland in 1972, this bunch of proto-artpunk terrorists spent most of their time fighting their audiences and getting arrested for being drunk. Their shows included the essential instrumentation of running lawn mowers and booming sheet metal. I don't know why, but sometimes I think they sound like Some Velvet Sidewalk.
The electric eels are the best thing you heard about today and I love them.

Bantam Rooster - Fuck All Y'all

Sympathy for the Record Industry [2000]

These guys put out some albums before and after this but they don't really matter as much.
These guys played some real nasty garage punk.
The lyrical content in this record is beautiful... eloquent, even...
Half of my infatuation with this record is directly related to the album artwork. It's stark, balanced, simple and interesting.
Fuck.

Eat Skull - Wild and Inside

Siltbreeze [2009]

Sorry for the lack of posting lately. Been out and about. I'm also sorry that I have never posted anything from Eat Skull. It becomes more and more apparent to me as time goes on that I am much more stupid than I think I am.
Anyway, if you don't already know, Eat Skull are a beautifully lo-fi pop/ noise/ garage punk outfit from Portland, OR. They were part of that whole "shitgaze" scene that prevailed during the later half of the last century. Last time I saw these dudes they were really drunk.
This is their second album and it's better than their first. I mean, it's not a lot better, but it is indeed better. You know?...

Siltbreeze [2008]

This is the band's first album. It's real good, but not quite as good as the second album...

Urusei Yatsura - We Are Urusei Yatsura

Che Trading [1996]

So this is Urusei Yatsura. They are were a band from Glasgow and they are named after some Japanese manga comic. They sound like Pavement. A lot. They are really good. I can't stop listening to them lately. You should do the same.

Primary [1997]

This is the singles collection that came after the aforementioned debut. It's not quite as good as "We Are..." but it's got some amazing gems on it that must not be missed. This is some top notch 90's lo-fi indie for your earholes folks.

Snuff - Snuff Said...

Workers Playtime [1989]

I know this isn't on K. The band put out their album "Reach" on K. This album is better, though. The full name of the album is Snuffsaidbutgorblimeyguvstonemeifhedidn'tthrowawobblerchachachachachachachachachachachayou'regoinghomeinacosmicambience. It's some really good early pop punk.

Steve Fisk - 448 Deathless Days

SST [1987]

So this isn't on K but Steve Fisk put a bunch of stuff out on the label. This is his first formal LP. It's really good.
What we are listening to is a collage of experimental compositions consisting of drum machines, synthesizers, and waves of overlapping samples. It's really good.

Tiger Trap - Tiger Trap

K [1993]

These are the last days of summer. Let's celebrate the waning sunshine with something light, shall we?

Or maybe I just finished the new K Records book and it was awesome as fuck... Who knows?

This goes out to my new friend Tim.

Thanks again for the picture of your feet.

Big Eyes - Hard Life

Don Giovanna [2011]

I don't usually post modern releases but this here album just got me so worked up I had to post it. If you are at all in the know then you already have this album. Thing is, HIMK is a place where us out-of-touch folks come to congregate and listen to music, so here is BIG EYES.
This is some wonderfully catchy and melodically ripping punk with a 77' flare and garage-pop sensibility. It's infectious.

Trumans Water - Peel Sessions

Strange Fruit [1995]

The greatest Trumans Water record is their first. It really is. Alas, the only copy I have of that is etched into a slab of vinyl and despite my overwhelming effort to obtain a cost-less digital copy, I have failed. SO, we are going to listen to the next best thing. This is some stuff the melodically noisy four-tet did with John Peel in the mid 90's. It's good.

And if anyone want's to share with us a link to a copy of "Of Thick Tum" we will worship you publicly. Thank you.

BARR - Summary

Upset! The Rhythm/ 5RC [2007]

I thought I had posted this long ago. I guess I hadn't.

It's raining where I live. Right now. It's the middle of August and it's cloudy and raining. Thank you Portland.

This is BARR. It's Brendan Fowler speaking important and not-so-important things over his band mates musical explorations. I think it is important you hear this.

Doggpony [2005]

And here is my second favorite BARR album. You are being required to listen to this as well. It's homework for the apocalypse.
